Reading Responses

There are many ways in which we can have students respond to their reading. Some are more fun than others. Some may be acivities which will allow for measuring their understanding and therefore measurable for report writing, etc.

We need to consider the purpose of the exercise, and think whether it will value add to the students' reading experience, rather than be a turn off.

Suggested reading responses:

1. Mini review that can be added to the catalogue, for future readers

2. Blog entries

3. Wikis - set up for a particular book, class group or genre

4. Posters

5. Paper bag activity

6. Speech

7. Group presentation

8. Students design a quiz on the book

9. Book to movie, or movie to book - students consider which works best for them, and why.

10. Consider writing up a scene from the book into a play

11. Book trailers - many students have access to the technology, including appropriate software, and can design a mini movie promoting the book.
